Emma & Andrew's beautiful wedding in Northern Ireland
Castigliano bride Emma married Andrew on 28th August 2015. The wedding ceremony was held in the small fishing village of Kilkeel on the South East coast of Northern Ireland, where the bride grew up with the reception taking place at the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa, nestled between the Mountains of Mourne and the Irish sea.
The bride and groom met through work when Emma moved to London just under five years ago. After working together for just over a year Andy moved jobs but they stayed in contact and two years later he proposed during a trip to the Maldives.
Emma looked stunning in her Caroline Castigliano Rossini gown. Of her designer wedding gown the bride says; “Only two words describe my reason for choosing the Rossini gown – timeliness elegance. The second I saw and tried on the gown that was it! You see and hear so many brides having ‘that moment’, and some may think it cliché, but that feeling when you try on the dress that is destined for you will never leave you”.
The ceremony was conducted by the brides father, who is a Church of Ireland minister. On the day he walked Emma up the aisle and then went and changed as they sang the first hymn and the other minister continued with the introductions. He then married the couple in front of family and friends.
Emma and Andy’s closest friends on each side are both guys and girls, so they decided to skip tradition and have a Best Man and a Best Woman each. Robbie and Kerry on Emma’s side and Sharon and Dean on Andy’s.
When asked what she enjoyed the most Emma says “The dress, the ceremony, the venue but honestly it was all of our guests. With Andy originally from Birmingham, myself from Northern Ireland, us both living in London and having travelled and lived around the world, we were incredibly honored to have our friends from around the globe travel far and wide to be with us on our special day. Not only did we have friends and family travel from all corners of the UK and Ireland but also New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, China, France, Italy, Dubai and the US”.
To be able to celebrate with all of their friends and family, they extended the wedding day to an entire weekend. A tip from the bride, is to make sure that when you’re planning your day, that you spend as much time as possible with your guests, they’re there to see you and your husband – make the most of it as it goes by in a flash!
So does the bride have any tips for brides-to-be?
The biggest tip from me is skincare! Before I got engaged, and on the lead up to the wedding, I thought I was following a pretty good skin regime…little did I know that it could be so much better!
After my second visit to the Caroline Castigliano Knightsbridge store, Caroline recommended Omniya which is just around the corner in Knightsbridge. There I met Kerry Payne who took time to review and assess my skin, recommend a treatment plan that was right for me on the lead up to our Big Day and most importantly revived my skincare regime to ensure this wasn’t just a one time fix!
One final tip, make sure that you hand over all organizational responsibilities the day before the wedding (at least!). This is the day to enjoy with your husband – I had a spreadsheet for everything and being able to hand everything over the day before the wedding resulted in a stress free day!
A MASSIVE thank you to Kerry Payne and Daniel at Omniya, Zoe Clark (because there’s no point in having great skin if you don’t have a fantastic make up artist!), House of Elliott flowers for simply enlightening every room we walked into and the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa for their hospitality, warmth and for truly making our wedding day unforgettable.
