Q&A with Castigliano Bride Sophie

A Modern Fairytale: Read more about Sophie and Dieter's elegant wedding at the enchanting Chateau de Robernier, surrounded by century old vineyards in the heart of Provence.

Tell us the date of your wedding?

It was the 4th May 2024

What is Your husband’s name?

Dieter

Where and when did you get engaged? We would love to know about that wonderful moment.

We got engaged in Méribel,France while on a ski trip with friends in the winter 2022/2023. We both love skiing and poor Dieter skied with the ring in his pocket for three days waiting for the right moment. However, it was not until we went on a walk in the forest behind where we were staying that he built up the courage to ask - it was perfect!

Where did you get married?

We got married at Château de Robernier in the South of France.

Please tell us more about your ceremony and reception?

We had a three day celebration with a welcome reception at Lou Calen in Cotignac and then ceremony, reception and Sunday brunch at Château de Robernier.

Why did you choose your venue(s)?

Dieter did an exchange in Antibes when he was a student and I spent a lot of time in the area as a child, so the region has always been close to our hearts but for the venue specifically we fell in love with the fairytale like building and courtyard.

Did you have a theme or any specific décor?

We wanted it to feel cozy and have a garden party feel, so a lot of the decorations were hand-painted and we used flowers that are typical for the region and season to capture the spring feeling.

How did you feel in your Castigliano gown?

I absolutely loved my gown and felt like it was truly made for me and the venue!
What did you enjoy the most about your Caroline Castigliano experience? I felt like the Knightsbridge team and Monica always knew what I was looking for and were an incredibly safe pair of hands in every step of the process. I never had to stress about the dress not turning out the way I had envisioned it.

Best moment of the day?

There are many! The vows and walking down the aisle are obvious first choices but we had also done our best to "marry" different wedding traditions from our respective countries by singing Swedish snaps songs (and drinking it of course) as well as playing Lac du Connemara which is popular in Belgium where Dieter is from. Another favourite moment was when I surprised Dieter with a vintage car for our entry to the cocktail after the ceremony, we're both petrol-heads and driving in with an Austin Healey from the late 50s felt very us.

Any tips for brides-to-be? This is so helpful for brides; they love reading about other girls’ experiences.

Choose your vendors well! We had a great time organizing our wedding because we felt we could fully trust the vendors we had signed up which made wedding planning a lot less stressful than what I had envisioned.

The Gown:

A vision in bespoke Caroline Castigliano. Sophie's dress was build around the lace that was introduced to her upon meeting with the Knightsbridge bridal team in London.  This gown has a refined elegance, with a bodice crafted from French corded lace layered over a smooth crepe base, giving a textured yet clean look. The neckline is left minimalistic, drawing focus to the intricate lace detail without added embellishment. A unique leather-backed belt, overlaid with matching lace, cinches the waist, adding subtle structure and contrast. The skirt is beautifully voluminous, layered with crinoline for shape, soft tulle, and delicate organza, creating a gentle, ethereal flow that complements the gown’s sophistication.
