Q & A with REAL BRIDE, Scarlett Reuben
Real Bride: Scarlett Karmel & David King Reuben

A Wedding full of heart and true gathering of the crème de la crème — effortlessly stylish, deeply personal, and one of the most meaningful celebrations of the year.
KIN HOUSE
Thursday, 15th May 2025
"From the beginning, David and I knew we wanted to do something that felt completely different, personal, creative, and full of intention. With David being a visual artist and me having worked in fashion and creative for over a decade, our wedding was always going to be a bit of a creative outlet for us"
David and Scarlett chose Kin House for its beautiful interiors by Barlow & Barlow.
It had this old-world charm but still felt modern and full of soul. Every part of the day was designed to feel thoughtful and unique.
The incredible planner, Alice Wilkes Design, helped bring all the personal details together. Liberty Lane Flowers created sculptural arrangements that looked as if they were growing right out of the tables and the ceremony setting. These were paired with hand-painted plates by David, brought to life by In the Round House, a gorgeous Australian tableware brand. The couple worked with their team to print David’s drawings onto each plate, which were then beautifully boxed and gifted to our guests as a keepsake at the end of the night. Soft candlelight filled the space, and whimsical draping added the dreamiest finishing touch.
"David painted our chuppah himself, which we stood under during the ceremony, and his hand-drawn motifs were woven throughout the day, on ashtrays, matches, kippahs all the small touches that made it feel like us."
Scarlett had three different looks.
On the welcome night, she wore a piece by Casona, a Madrid-based designer Scarlett works with through her business, Sensus Collective. Supporting emerging talent is one of her passions, and they’re definitely one to watch.
On the wedding day, she wore two custom gowns by Caroline Castigliano, each capturing a different side of her style. For the ceremony, she envisioned something romantic and ethereal — a gown crafted from cascading layers of illusion tulle and weightless organza, creating a soft, dreamlike silhouette. The structured corset, sculpted from vanilla-toned power mesh and overlaid with intricate French Chantilly lace, offered delicate support while feeling effortlessly light. Hand-appliquéd Italian cotton lace adorned the bodice and skirt, each detail meticulously sewn by hand in Caroline’s UK atelier — a true testament to couture craftsmanship.
Completing the look were a pair of elegant Aquazzura heels and exquisite pear-shaped diamond drop earrings by Sophia D — a New York–based, family-run jeweller with a 40-year legacy and a personal connection, as it's owned by Scarlett’s sister-in-law’s family. Known for their Art Deco and antique-inspired designs, the earrings were the perfect complement to the romantic sophistication of her gown.
For the after-party, the bride changed into a short, playful couture mini dress. Caroline Castigliano brought it to life with hand-finished lace and delicate beading.
"Honestly, it’s one of my favourite pieces I’ve ever worn" - S.Reuben
David also went custom. He wore a double-breasted wool blend suit by Hax Tailoring, with his own drawings embroidered into the linings. His tie was a knitted black piece by Drake's, his shoes by Arthur Sleep, and the soles had his hand-drawn illustrations drawn onto them...
His ring was a vintage gold and diamond piece that Scarlett found. He wanted something with a bit of soul and history, and it was perfect.
The menu was designed by the bride's mother, Annabel Karmel, and featured dishes inspired by meals they love to share with friends and family. It was one of the most personal and special parts of the day.
Seeing Annabel and Scarlett together, both wearing custom gowns by Caroline Castigliano, was incredibly special. It felt like a full-circle moment — two generations, two strong women, both dressed by someone who’s not just a designer but a dear friend to their family.

It was the perfect blend of elegance, legacy, and love.
The ceremony music, composed entirely by David’s brother Joseph Reuben, brought an added layer of emotion and intimacy to the day, making the moment feel even more profound. The entire celebration was filled with love, creativity, and intention, surrounded by brilliant, talented friends and family. It was a true reflection of everything — and everyone — the couple holds dear.
The talented Cinzia Bruschini captured Scarlett & David's wedding.
They wanted it to feel filmic, timeless, and full of emotion, and she captured the atmosphere perfectly.
THE Q&A WITH OUR BRIDE
We caught up with our stunning bride just after her honeymoon to relive the magic of her unforgettable day. From the moment she stepped into her custom Caroline Castigliano gown to the heartfelt details that made the celebration so personal, we asked her a few questions to share more of the story behind the style, the love, and the moments that meant the most.
-
How did you and your husband meet, and how did the proposal happen?
We’ve known each other for over ten years, but reconnected at a friend’s birthday about six years ago. What started as a friendship turned into something more. He proposed at Petersham Nurseries, in a private greenhouse filled with candles and flowers — it felt like something out of a dream.

Tell us about the moment you knew this was your dress.
I went into the process with a clear idea: something romantic, whimsical, with proper corsetry and an A-line silhouette. Once I started trying on dresses, I knew instantly what felt right on my body. When I visited Caroline Castigliano, I tried on a gown that had the right structure, but I wanted to make it my own. We chose the exact lace and embroidered details together — it was such a beautiful, collaborative experience. Caroline made my dream dress and made me feel like a part of creating it.
_
How did your Caroline Castigliano gown make you feel on the day?
So beautiful. So confident. And most importantly, I felt completely like myself, which I think is everything.
_
How involved were you in the styling process of your gown?
Very involved! We customised every detail, down to the placement of each flower. It was such a creative experience and Caroline and her team just got it. I felt so supported throughout the whole process.
_
What role did your bridal party or family play in your dress decision?
It was definitely my decision, but my friend Blaize Caprice, who’s a designer, was an incredible help. She has amazing taste and helped bring the vision to life.
_
You had a second look custom-made by Caroline. Tell us more.
For the after-party, I changed into a short couture mini dress that Caroline designed just for me. It was sparkly, fun, and covered in delicate hand-finished lace and beading. It had that wow factor but was still easy to dance in — honestly, one of my favourite pieces I’ve ever worn.
_
What did your husband say when he first saw you in your dress?
He cried. So… I think that says it all.
-
What was your favourite moment of the day?
The ceremony and the speeches. Every word spoken felt heartfelt and true. It was emotional and full of love.
_
What will you treasure most when you look back on your wedding day?
Just the overwhelming feeling of love. From David, from our families, from all our friends — having everyone we love in one place was the most special part. I’ll treasure that forever.
_
What advice would you give to brides currently planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. No one remembers the fonts — they remember the feeling. Enjoy your day. And honestly, consider taking photos before the ceremony so you can just flow with the rest of it.
