Q & A with REAL BRIDE, Caroline's stepdaughter Kate

Questions for the bride, Kate

Date of the wedding:

Friday, 19th July 2024

What is your husband's name?

Mark aka the love of my life...

Where and when did you get engaged?

Mark proposed on a beautiful rooftop in Rome on 2nd November 2023. It was such a special and intimate moment, in a city that we both fell in love with on a previous visit there. We spent the rest of the evening in our little secret engagement bubble before telling our friends and family.

Kate’s wedding at Finca Son Berga, Alaró, was truly magical—from breathtaking views to charming courtyards, each moment unfolding in a new, enchanting space. Nestled in the picturesque village of Alaró, the celebration spanned three unforgettable days.

It began with a welcome drinks reception at our favorite restaurant in Palma, overlooking the harbor, followed by the wedding itself at Son Berga, and concluded with a dreamy pool party at a private villa.

Where did you get married, hold the ceremony and the reception?

Finca Son Berga, Alaró a small idyllic village on Mallorca.

Why did you choose your venue?

We wanted a venue that felt very relaxed and had a Spanish Finca-style. Son Berga was a truly special place, from the incredible views, to the beautiful courtyards. We especially liked that the venue layout took our guests on a journey, with each part of the day moving into a different area. Being July, all of the flowers were in full bloom, which has made the photos even more special. We chose Mallorca as we have travelled there many times together, and I had been going to Mallorca each summer - pretty much my whole life.

Did you have a theme or a specific décor?

As the venue had so many beautiful plants, flowers, and trees - we didn't want to add too much decoration, as it didn't feel authentic within the venue. The 'look' we were going for was classic with a fresh twist.

We had gypsophila bouquets and a few planters within the ceremony area, however we went all-in on lighting and candles. As the dinner took place in the evening, we wanted the whole venue to sparkle. In the dinner and party area, we had hurricane candles on every table, with a canopy of fairy lights above. My sister did the calligraphy on all of our place settings, and for every guest, we wrote a personalized card - which was one of the highlights.

How did you feel in your Castigliano gown?

What did you enjoy the most about your Caroline Castigliano experience?

The Knightsbridge team really went above and beyond, from the initial appointments with their stylists to the fittings. What stood out most to me was the incredible attention to detail and their ability to turn an idea into reality. They listened and were able to provide expert advice throughout the process.

"My headpiece was designed by the renowned Maria Elena, an artist who truly understands how to create something meaningful—infused with elegance, romance, and timeless beauty.I adored it!"

A glowing, beautiful bride.

Kate’s makeup was elegantly fresh and radiant, expertly created by Rebecca Spendlove Complemented by fabulous facial treatments from renowned dermatologist and close family friend, Dr. Iñigo De Felipe.

Tell us about the best moment of the day.

It's hard to pick a singular moment, but one of my favourite moments was during the cocktail hour after our guests took their seats for dinner. Mark and I had a few minutes to take a breath, enjoy the canapes, and have a toast together as a newlywed couple before diving into the rest of the evening.

Family is everything.

Having Caroline design my wedding dress was incredibly special, but celebrating surrounded by my loved ones in a place I call my second home made it truly unforgettable. It’s a feeling I wish for everyone…

A timeless dress...

Any tips for brides-to-be?

   Here are my top 5:

Don't get too influenced by other peoples' opinions - go with your gut instinct and design the wedding around you and your partner. Use social platforms for inspiration, but prioritise the elements  you and your partner care about the most.

Plan the 'getting ready' part of your day, as if it is part of the wedding itself, and surround yourself with good-energy people. You will run out of time if you leave things to the minute and being chilled at this point of the day is key to going into your wedding feeling relaxed.

Pay particular attention to the seating plan, this is time-consuming but well worth the effort. Many of our friends have since made new friends with other wedding guests based on who we placed them next to.

Leave enough time for a few moments throughout the day with just you and your partner, it helps to stay present and not let the day run away with you

And last but not least

Enjoy it and don't worry about the elements you can't control!
